Replication problems

I inherited an MS Access application from a guy who dropped dead of a heart attack.

I am running Access 2003, though I suspect this application was developed in Access 97.

A design master is set up, however the reports only reside in the replica. All I want to do is make a minor change on one of the reports. If I try to save the change, nothing happens. I don't get an error, or even an hourglass, but my change won't save.

I think this may have something to do with the replication. The master db does not have any reports in it, so I guess it is the master only for some of the tables and modules. When I open the replica, there is a window that pops up that tells me some conflicts exist.

If I try to save a copy of the report in the replica db, I get a message that says. "Name conflicts with existing module, project, or object library." I tried to call the report "flamingiguana", so I am pretty sure this is a unique name and not a duplicate. Searching at microsoft's support site leads me to believe this has something to do with replication, but I cannot find much help on the internet or in the multiple access books I have.

If possible, I would like to just make my replica its own master. I don't think the whole replication thing is that necessary.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you are sure you wish to do this, you can create a design master from a replica.
Tools->Replication->Recover Design Master

It is generally best to synchronise before this step, as you cannot do so afterwards.

When I am in the replica, the tools menu options is not available. Why would this be?

Hi, I'm waiting for my authorization to make my own post- may I piggyback here with another replication question?

When I try to view conflicts with the Replication Conflict Viewer, the button won't bring anything up. I see from the FAQ that all sorts of wonderful things are supposed to happen, but I can see none of it. Double clicking the table in question produces a brief hourglass, then nothing.

I've updated all the service packs that I can, only remaining is for the 2000 version (we upgraded) and I can't locate the original disk to get that one through. Otherwise I'm all up to date. Do I need to reinstall to get this feature to work? Would love your experienced opinions here. Thanks,
Susan
