Replacing the main board and/or print head 850 phaser tektronix

I have an 850 and it seems that the black ink jets are not working. I've tried all the solutions including the super-duper file from Xerox. I am considering purchasing an 850 from eBay that is missing the Mother Board as he puts it, but I'm pretty sure he's referring to the main board.

I'd like to buy this printer and pull the printhead to replace the one in mine, or pull my main board to put in the "new" one. Is this reasonable? At approx. $200 it's definitely cheaper than a new print head.

I'd appreciate anything asap. Thanks so much.

I suppose you could do that, but if the printer you are buying also has a bad printhead, you've just spent $200 for another bad printer.

Are you using genuine Xerox ink?

Yes, I'm using the genuine thing. And I talked to the seller. He tells me he's tested it with the main board from another 850 and it prints fine. He's also shipping it to me to check it out. If it doesn't work, I send it back. He pays the shipping. We'll see.

anyone have a main board 650-4142 for sale? LOL. I blew mine making the move to the new printer. It powers up, but nothing happens. Display is blank and it won't power down -- have to unplug it.

kcoares55 before buying another board, try reseating the one you have, they are known for being hard to seat. Make sure it goes in all the way. Later

Cultoflon, you have sol-ved the problem. That's exactly what I did and it works great.
