Hello All,

1 of our site is having issue with the server and it is the server HW issue. I would assume the HDD is ok. we have 3 lim (ts4.1) with 3rd lim at remote site.

My question is do i have to re-installed the entire system if to replace the main server? current lim 1 & 2 is running on standby server until i replace the main server.

Hello
There is an instrcution on how to replace a defective server HW. Is it an ASU board?

Another option is to replace the HW with a new one, but for the server to come up ok and comunicate with the others you have the edit the file

/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and comment with a # signal the two lines where the MAC addresses of the Eth are.

After that, reboot the new server in the new HW, the system with recreat new lines with the MAC addresses from the new ASU board.

But just for a matter of security, first make sure to have your backups updated, config_mirror and execute a pc-regen of your system case you need to re-install it.

Here is the instruction. This not so easy. You have to have in hands a USB/DVD with extately the same SUSE version to use this instruction.

Anyhow, nothing will works with LIMs running on standby servers. The entire system must be in good shape.

backups up to date
config_mirror ....
