I have a HP nx7000 that went suddenly blind on me.
Completely blank screen. I rebooted more than once, and tried an external screen; same problem. My guess is: Graphics card.
My question is: Anybody has an idea how to replace it?
When I turn it upside down, at the bottom left corner there is a square door with a screw. I opened it and was not sure if this was the Graphics card or processor.
If anybody has an idea, I'd appreciate your help.

it wont be the processor they are on the board underneath the keyboard and not accessable from underneath look at that piece and post what it says on it here any detail would be good there are also wireless and modem cards and memory underneath there check them all one should say video on it in some way and from expirence of working on laptops and tearing many apart usually the graphics card is connected with 2 wires usually a blue and white one some times different but almost always a white one and another one

Remember free things are fun but they can come with an emotional price tags..

Well, let's have a look at:

I think it's the sound card. I think the graphics card is also under the keyboard :(

The other compartments at the back are for the battery, HD and RAM.

Now the question is: How to remove the Keyboard without damaging anything?

That's the wireless network card. Laptops don't have graphics or sound "cards" as such, it's generally all integrated. The only system components you can usually replace are wireless network cards, memory and hard drives. If the graphics hardware is faulty then the manufacturer might be able to replace it.

Oops. I think you are right.
Graphics card is integrated in the motherboard.

My goose is cooked!

There I am again.
I removed the keyboard (was really easy).
Now I have a picture where I think I see the graphics card location.
Any further comments?

Yep, you got it...this will help:

Now; before you get started, read and fully understand that service manual. Screws will vary in length and can go in only one place...there is a very real danger of short circuits and physical damage is something is in the wrong spot. Follow the instructions from HP to the letter; I print the appropriate pages and check off each step as I go and organize/label the screws (egg carton works good) as I remove them.

Good quality tools are a must too. A cheapo screwdriver kit from the dollar store will not do the job.

Thank you very much, skpcox.
Remains to see where to buy the Graphics card from (direct from ATI, maybe), and for how much.
