Hello,
I usually spend my time in the VB.Net forum as most of my time is spent with Win Apps but recently I've started creating web apps. My question is can anyone point me in the direction of a discussion thread dealing with replacing IIS 5.1 with Apache. This must have come up before so to save everyones time I thought I would browse through the threads here and pick up useful tips etc, but no joy. Im running XP pro sp2 the .Net framework is 1.1 and I'm also running MS vis studio 2002.
The reason I would like to install Apache is that IIS 5.1 limits to 10 concurrent users, I would like to create an intranet site and need a web server which can handle more users.
I've got hold of Apache 2.0.54 for windows which presumably will be ok. I'm NOT a web guru and have very limited knowledge of web dev at this time, but I would like to have a go.
My plan has not developed very far but is:
1. Back up c drive
2. Uninstall IIS 5.1
3. Install Apache 2.0.54
4. Repair or reinstall . NET framework
5. See what happens
See what I mean, needs work, if anyone can point me at a discussion thread I would appreciate it.
Cheers.
