Replacing Down VM Pro

We have a customer that had a VM Pro R7 with an IPO R7. The VM Pro PC took a lightning hit, so we are going to install a new VM Pro PC.

We have one back in the shop ready to go, but it it already had VP Pro 8.0 installed on it. Is this OK to work with an IPO R7? or should we downgrade the VM Pro to R7?

Matching releases is one of the things that are a god habit to get into with the IPO.
In a hurry I used the latest release of a version but then upgraded the IPO after the fact.
Make it R7 and you are fine with R8 it should work but might have some unforeseen and unpredictable side effects.

I have notice very odd and nasty little things that do not work well when you do not match the right versions.
I would put it on 7.0
