I need to replace the graphics card on the Optiplex G1 with a PCI card as the onboard graphics card has fried.

Their are a couple of spare PCI slots so I'm guessing I can just stick in a PCI graphics card and it should work...

Does the G1 send the video through the PCI graphics card once it is inserted? or does something need to be changed in the Bios? if so how would I go about it as I cant see any video signal!

Help apprceciated.

The PCI video card should give you enough signal to go into the bios and change this setting. Sometimes windows and other OS's wont be able to use the add-on card until it is disabled in the bios, others work just fine.
It will usually be burried in a sub menu, of onboard devices.
and could be called "on board video, on board VGA, onboard display", or it could even be somewhat mislabled as a PCI device.
