We are in the process of replacing a CPMGS card. We got the new card in and moved the HD and flash and dongle. We booted the card and I got into mgcsetup and entered the correct IP info and rebooted the MGC. Everything came up fine but I get the error

"VGW2118 VGW connection setup failure:MAC address configuration unsuccessful (target device not responding), call failure on channel"

Is there anywhere in EM where a MAC has to be edited? Am I missing something in the procedure here?

I think you should probably sync the node properties as well as register the MGC into the security domain.

Stat your VGW channels and see what they look like. I bet they are disabled.

I think it will probably be the security domain registration. When I tried to access the element manager for that site during this process, I got a certification error and could only get local access. So I believe you are correct about the security domain. I will update when I try again. It will be next week. We put the original card back in. It works fine but the tty ports will not work.

I've had this issue before and it is usually followed by a "Boot Device Failure" error message.
Problem lies on the MGC side of the board.
Make sure you see the MAC address (on daughterboard) on the MGC boot. If this is the issue it will appear as ##:##:## or it will be empty.
If that is the case you can boot interrupt and enter MAC address manually.

If you can see the MAC address the board is most likely defective.

It's been a while here, but the other guys got another replacement card and it had issues (I was told) and they ordered a brand new card. I just worked with the guy tonight and we replaced with the new card and all is well.
