Yes, I hate these wifi phones, but the customer has 6 of them with no issues and loves them, except the last one I ordered refurbished will not connect to his WPA2 network no matter what, it'll connect via WPA but not WPA2, yet the rest of his 3645 phones connect on the WPA2 network fine. I'm looking for something newer that works and is still in production, and I am thinking the Spectralink 8440 series. Anyone have specific hands on with this newer model from Spectralink? Any gotchas? or has it worked fine on IPO? (they are on Release 9)

Serious answer, get some Mitel 5624 wifi phones.
Order some SIP IP endpoint licenses.
More stable and much easier to setup.
You do however need a cradle to program them but it is fairly easy.
I have replaced those crappy Avaya phones with these Mitel phones and all issue vanished.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

When I google the Mitel 5624, I get 'EMEA only', I'm in North America so I'm guessing this will be an issue. Do they make a 5624 for the US?

I really don't know. Sorry

I use the Spectralink 8400 Series in my environment. I have 11 handsets and after some initial configuration they work well. I had to downgrade the phones to 802.11 G and not 802.11 N for more stability in my environment (as per Spectralink support). We are running all Cisco AP's on a separate SSID (highly reccomended) with WPA2. Make sure that they find the view certification guide for your access points, you need to make certain QOS and other changes to make sure that the Spectralink handsets work properly.

The only thing I have yet to figure out is how to program the directory.
Hold, Transfer,Voicemail all work.
To park calls or to retrieve park calls you have to make a new short code.

I attached the guide on how to program the phones with IPO R9
