I must start by saying I know very little of this system, I have admin access to the system, and I have both telnet & web access to the system (Got it, so I could change the time in the system when it got to way off)

One of the 2 phones in the reception of this hotel got broken, so I bought a refurbished M3820 Handset, and thought I could just replace it, and everything would work..

BUT it wasent this easy.

The phone says "Set Busy Activated" - And it is not possible to get it working.

I can only get into the "Program" Menu on the handset, but there dosent seem to be anywhere I can activate the handset, so I guess it is done in the CS1000 ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Regards

If not already maked on the phone, print out the TNB and look for the key labelled MSB (make set busy) Once you know which it is, you should be able to press the appropriate button on the phone to clear it.
As a visual indicator, if all is ok with the phone, you should see a solid arrow beside the MSB key. When you press it that should go away, allowing you to log in and answer calls.

All buttons I can press is the digits, the volume up / down and the "Program" button.

Nothing else is working, I have tried every button, nothing changes in the display (Except the mentioned buttons)

And I cannot get a wokring line on it (No sound whe I pick up the handset) - and nothing happens if I enter the number I wanna call (started by "0")

As there were a M3820 handset in same position before, should I just be able to insert a new M3820 without making any programming ?

I have most of my experience from Ericsson systems, and there you can just put in a new phone if one gets broken... And every setting is the same..

Well, to wrap this thread up, here comes the conclusion..

Sometimes things are just much more simple than it seems in the begining..

Had a phone company out looking at the cs1000 and the new phone, and it just seems there were a stuck button on the handset, so after he juggled all the buttons, and took it off and on again, everything worked..

Thanks to the 2 guys helping me in this thread, I have now learned a lot more of the setup :)
