I've a SAP lv which strips across serveral disks. Recently I found one of the disks has reported error from the error report. I plan to replace the disk but wonder if there is an efficient way to carry out the task since migratepv seems inapproriate in this case as the lv strips across a few disks. cplv will need more spare disks which is now I don't have. And if I backup the whole lv (which is about 70GB) and the restoration takes long time and seems a lot of work to do. Any advise, folks?

Why would migratepv be inappropriate ? It soulnd like it would be perfect.

migratepv -l would perhaps be even better.

Bill.

Bill,
It is mentioned somewhere in document that the migratepv command cannot migrate striped logical volumes.

I just did a quick check of the manpage. Didn't see it there. If you find the doc, please send to me for my files.

Thanks, Bill.
