Recently I inherited a project that was created by another group. They used non standard naming procedures and now there are fields that begin, end, or include a -/+, #, or start with a number.

What I have done is documented all cases in the many tables where this occurs. My question is, is there a way for me to change the name in the table, and to change all instances on forms where these fields are used?

The reason for this is, there are about 100 forms, and I don't want to go through EACH one and fix each individual problem.

Thank you for your help in Advance Cruz'n and Booz'n always.
This post shows what little I do at work.

Ouch! You have my sympathy. I've also inherited databases that sound very similiar to what you're describing. Personally, I've found it to be easier to just create a new database that meets the users needs rather than try to fix the existing mess.

Normally, I start by sitting down with the users and going through the forms and reports in the database and finding out which ones they use and which ones are obsolete. Do your users still need all 100 forms, or are some of them just old junk left over from previous needs? That may help cut down on your workload some.

In my case, I was able to trim a poorly written user database with 200+ tables, 200+ queries, 50 forms, 50 reports and 200+ macros down to a database with about 10 tables, 20 queries, 5 forms, 3 reports and no macros! Maq [americanflag]
