Hello and thanks for reading.
I have renamed two computers in the domain and can still see their old names in the manager on the server as well as the new ones. Is there a way to sync up or refresh the domain? Or is there something else im missing.

THe server is 2003 sbs and the workstations are xp pro

thanks

Hey there, if you mean you can see them in your computers container then all you will need to do is simply delete the old records of it. It wont have any adverse affects it will just remove the clutter in that container. Hope this helps.

thank you very much, i wasnt sure if that would be a good idea or not. is there anywhere on microsofts KB that mentions this? Just something to show the boss. thanks :)
have a star :)

thanks, I think ill just delete the computers i cant connect using terminal services. there are a few that i get an error saying the computer cant be found. i do know that they dont exist because i replaced them with new computers with dif names.

Sometimes here just to be sure I will join the machine to a workgroup (i.e. WORKGROUP) restart, then connect to the dc via rdp or however you have access and remove that old name from the container, then i will rename the machine and rejoin it to the domain. I dont know if thats the best order of operations but its something i have been doing for a while now just to make sure i dont miss any steps.

yea thats what I did on the two machines i had trouble renaming
