I have just setup a user with a new mail account and I have found out I have spelt the name wrong.

How would I go about changing the name?

I have setup a new account with the new name and tried connecting to that but it is still trying to connect to the old name.

Any suggestions welcome

In the Admin client there is a Rename. Give that a try. You may need to run ADminP after you Rename it so the changes will take effect sooner.

I have got the new name on the server now but the client machine is still looking for his old name.

Do you know where winXP or notes6 keeps this information?

Sorry I am compleatly new to notes could you please explain what ADminP is.

If you created a new person/ID/database(NSF) then on the lower right side of the client click on the thing that says Office then click on edit current. Go to the mail tab and under mail file it should be pointing to the new mail file.

AdminP does all the updates when you make a change on the server. Some things are updated once a day and others are done once a week so normaly what I do is after any change I type " Tell AdminP Process All" at the server Console.

Did That and I got it working.

But I have come in this morning and it is saying 'user not authorized to access that database' when trying to look at mail.

I hate notes :(

I would Uninstall the Client and delete the Lotus directory, then do a fresh install of the client. Also check the ACL on his(or her)'s NSF.

I wouldn't Uninstall the client. The automated processes have not updated the ACL of the Users Mailfile with the new name this is why they have no access. Change this manually and the user will regain access. Also, once into the mailfile, check the mailfile owner field Under Tools > Preferences and ensure that this is also showing the new name. If it isn't you'll end up a few minor but irritating mail problems.

Good Luck
