Rename GroupWise and NDS Account

I haven't been able to find information regarding renaming an NDS account and sychronizing it with a co-ordinating rename of the GroupWise account. I want this process to be seamless to the user (who is fairly high up on the "food chain").

1. Do I rename the nds account first?
2. How do I ensure the links between the nds account and the groupwise account are maintained?
3. How long does this process take? (there is no change of context or post office in this case, but the information does need to update across the entire network which is across the country, 16 servers in total).

Any advice or associated tid references would be appreciated.
 
Hi Cleo02 ~

If I understand you correctly, you have a user, (NDS example lets say): jsmith

You want to rename jsmith to johnsmith.
Then, you would like to change their email (jsmith@yourcompany.com) to johnsmith@yourcompany.com ?

You can rename either first. However...to maintain coninuity so that the person continues to recieve mail from their old account, create a nickname for them with their old GW name AFTER you have renamed it.

Using WAN links it may take a couple of hours or so.

Just be patient it will work.
