I have a new employee that is taken over the position left vacant by an employee

I did the usual renaming of the old employee user account in active directory users and computers. So that the new employee can have the same access and take ownership of all the old employee files.

One one issue I am having is how can I give her control on all the emails that are in the old employee's in box, sent folder. Is their a rename feature for exchange?

I don't usually rename an account from one user to another. I usually just copy the original account. You can then grant full mailbox access to the old account for the new user.

If the account is just renamed, what happens when the user opens Outlook and attempts to access the old mailbox?

I agree normally I would copy the user account; but I wanted her to take ownership of all the ex-employee files. OK I just create a new mailbox for her.

Thanks for the advice.
