I know this is a noob question but, nonetheless how do I disable windows 2000 server from trying to be a server (i.e. trying to get a dns domain name).

Basically, I would like windows 2000 server to act as windows 2000 pro for now. Is there any way this can be accomplished?

Thanks,

go to start, settings, control panel, add/remove window components, then you will see what services you have running in network, etc...

if it is running AD you have to run dcpromo at the run prompt and demote it out of AD
