Hello,
I need to install a software package on my Sun machine running Solaris 7. The installation guide for the software package states that I must ensure that patch 107443 is not on the system as it will not allow the installation of the software package. I found two instances of the patch 107443-08 and 107443-12. I was able to remove 107443-12 using the patchrm script, but I can't remove patch 107443-08, because it does not show up in the patch log. What can I do to remove this patch? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ed Carter

Hi,

Did U try the backoutpatch script available
with each script.

Does showrev still show the patch.

Enjoy Unix..

DJC,

Thanks for the advice. However, I am new to Unix and Solaris. How do I go about using the backoutpatch script? And yes, the patch stills shows up when I run showrev.

Thanks for your help.

Ed,
if patches were installed correctly on your machine you will find as many subdirectories under /var/spool/patches as installed patches.
In each of these subdirectories (named the same as the patch number) there will be a script named "backoutpatch". You can use it to deinstall the specific patch.
Although SUN recommends not to use this script in the future. Instead you should use the "patchrm" command. There's more about that in the README file in each patch subdirectory. Furthermore there is a man page for "patchrm".
