Removing members from DL using Directory Import 1

Does anyone know how to remove members from a DL using Directory Import?

We have about 500 hidden users who still belong to a companywide DL. I exported them using Directory Export and modified the Members field. But when I imported the csv file it did not remove the entry.

What have I done wrong?

Did you have the default 'append' instead of 'overwrite' for multi-valued fields?

I deleted the contents of Members field, used the mode value of Update and selected Overwrite for multi-valued fields.

Perhaps a delete of the Members field is not good enough? Maybe a null or space is required instead?

Are you trying to delete the entire DL membership? Deleting the entire membership is easy - delete the DL, and then recreate the DL with the same name and Alias.

Is your import file's Members column empty? Empty Import columns for anything don't overwrite existing entries - even with 'overwrite' selected, you need an explicit ~DEL to overwrite with blank.

Excellent zbnet, thats saved a very long manual task !

FYI - it wasn't deleting entire DL membership, just about 200 or so members from a 4000+ DL
