Here's my layout

EXT 2120
TYPE MIX

TN 11 O MARP
TN 9 1 KEY 03 (2616)
TN 7 5 KEY 10 (2616)
TN 8 1 KEY 10 (2616)

EXT 2136
TYPE SL1

TN 7 5 KEY 00 MARP (2616)
TN 8 1 KEY 03 (2616)

EXT 2134
TYPE SL1

TN 8 1 KEY 00 MARP (2616)
TN 7 5 KEY 03 (2616)

What I want to do is stop the first extention from ringing to these other 2 phones. I believe its done by removing them from the keys of the first one right? I tried the following

LD 20
REQ CHG
TYPE 2616
TN 7 5 <-- FOR TN, NOT SURE WHICH TN ITS REFERRING TO, THE ONES IM REMOVING KEYS FROM, OR THE TNS THOSE KEYS ARE POINTING TO
ECHG YES
ITEM KEY 10 NUL

Nothing changes as the keys are still listed for the 2120 ext. Pretty sure I am just misinterpreting something here.

Thanks for the help.

You want to use the TN you are deleting the key from
Reg Chg
type 2616
TN 11 0
ECHG yes
Item key 10 nul

Ah ok.

Then I would have to change the TYPE to 500.

Will do...Thanks.

I'm not really clear on what you are asking.

When you call the first extension that is ringing the other phones what is happening? is the same extension on other phones you want to stop ringing, or is it hunting or forwarding to the others?

DO you log in directly to the dumb terminal or do you use procomm and dial in? You seem to be typing in the data when we ask for the TNB, if you use procomm you can cut and paste easily and it helps us better understand what you want to accomplish sometimes.

I just ordered Procomm. So I dont have it yet, but I cant wait. Until I get it and play with it a little, I work right at the ugly dirty terminal.

The first extension listed, 2120. When you call it, it rings on the other 2 phones well. The extension use to belong to the plant manager that resided in an adjacent office. The extension is now in use by another individual in ANOTHER department.

I only want it to ring/lightup/whathaveyou for the sole phone its connected to...which happens to be an analog, while the phones for the 2 girls...are digital sets. This will prevent the girls from answering the phone accidentally, or having to constantly look to see if the call is for them, or the guy at 2120.

Im understand very little on what "keys" are exactly. If they are built into the phone or the port or whatever.

That extension resides on 4 phones.

11 0 is the analog. then:
TN 9 1
TN 7 5
TN 8 1 Are all digitals.

The keys are key appearances on those digital phones. Start counting from key 0 up and you will find where they appear on the phone. to get rid of them use NUL
i.e.
REQ CHG
TYPE 2616
TN 9 1
ECHG yes
KEY 03 NUL
<enter> to end

REQ CHG
TYPE 2616
TN 7 5
ECHG yes
KEY 10 NUL
<enter> to end

REQ CHG
TYPE 2616
TN 8 1
ECHG yes
KEY 10 NUL
<enter> to end

Steve

The keys are simple. look at your 2616 phone, each button on each side of the display is a key. The keys are programmed on the TN. The phone doesn't really have programming on itself, ie you can replace a 2616 with any other 2616 and it will still have the same features, keys etc as the original phone. Most keys can be changed while others are hard coded in the system and cannot be changed.

A 500 set or analog, doesnt have keys like the digitals do.

I don't think you have any 3000 sets so I won't go into the differences those bring to the table haha

Thanks a lot guys. Especially to TAnselm for breaking it down the code right there for me. I was in the right area, just needed clarification on a few lines.

Printed and added to the wall of other "how to do this" stuff. =)

Always Print the TNB's of any phone your going to make changes or OUT, so incase you screw-up you have a print of how to put it back.

be carefull that wall will get a little crowded... one thing i recogmend to any tech... make a soft copy of your tnb.. just capture one to a file if nothing else.. i've never met a tech that either did a change on the wronge set or outed a working phone... we had one that outed a 2616 with two add on mod's at 4 oclock on a friday... without my database he would have still been typing... bad thing was all the keys had a name on them, some were bfs others were scn/scr keys some had names on them but were hot d keys.. by looking at the set all he had was 50 plus 1st names
