When I run MSConfig there is a lot of references to removed programs especially DEVLDR16.exe, and double entries. How do you remove this stuff from the list?
TIA

macaw, I found the msconfig entries in the following registry keys. One has the active keys, the other has the unchecked keys. Maybe these might help. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run.
you should find 2 run keys. I went to the one with my unticked entries and deleted them, when i rebooted my msconfig\startup was clean of unwanted entries.
hope it helps

I was having Norton 2002 issues due to bugbear virus, hammered the whole thing and loaded win 2000. okerb your suggestion works very well with programs that startup when the machine boots, thanks will be posting questions on the win 2000pro lins. Thanks again.

macaw, the suggestion ockerb gave you is exactly what I suggested a week earlier. I guess you didn't read my first reply.

Sorry Kento, I missed it,But L appreciat the effort thanks again.

Users of StartupCPL will have to go to
H_C_U\Software\mlin\StartupCPL\Deleted and
a similar key under HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT in the registry to completely remove entries for deleted startup items. So I regret my posting of Oct. 9.
