Hey everyone, I've just set up a new system and because of a broken hard drive I was trying to back up data to my old Maxtor 80gb. Anyways this didn't work...broken pin...but anyways then I just wanted to format the 80gb. However in the atttempt at backing up the old one, I was using Seagate's Disk Manager and it installed its DDO on my Maxtor. I'm pretty sure this is causing issues, although the hard drive is also having an issue with Hal.dll, which I believe is because a friend I loaned it to ran Win 2000 on it (and I'm setting up XP).
I was wondering if anyone knew a way to just wipe out the DDO. Think I've tried KillDisk but the freeware version only allows a simple one-pass thing that didn't work, and I've tried some other programs. Sorry I'm really kind of an amateur but if anyone knew any links or just command prompt lines to fix this I'd really appreciate it. I'd think you ought to be able to remove it with the Seagate program itself but if so I couldn't find the option for this. Thanks a lot for your time!

killdisk should do it - wipes the whole drive.

Sweet, thanks wolluf - it's that easy. For some reason when I ran the program with my 80gb set up as a slave the format didn't take out the DDO. So then I just tried the boot diskette from them and that worked fine. Should've tried the boot disk first, but I just assumed it wouldn't make a difference.
