Internet explorer was working great until I got hit with spyware (browserwise). It seems spyware loaded a program call Xupiter which takes over your auto search and bombards you with ads and the like. I downloaded spybot and was finally able to get rid of the Xupiter program. I am not able to use IE autosearch unless i enter all the info,(http/ anyone had this problem? Does anybody know what I should do? I hate not having something work the way it should. I also should let everyone know the browserwise did not let me download spybot from cnet. I had to go to the spybot web page to download.

There's a browser setting in Internet Options/Advanced that has choices for search...is that set as you want it?
Sometimes, it takes a repair install of IE.
Here's a link to using the repair tool, if you need it:

Have anti virus? (ignore this next section if you do!)
grisoft.com is where you can download free AVG...but you also may need (if you haven't any) an online scan (free) from Be patient, if you run it, it takes awhile and the dialog boxes are slow to respond...but it's worth it.
IF you have no AV, would suggest you to make the "housecall" trip, then download AVG.
Downloading difficulties fit profile of several of the "worms" or virii, as they are also called.

In fact, here's a list of free online scanners:

BitDefender Free Online Scan

Command on Demand(tm)

Panda ActiveScan - Free online virus check

Symantec Security Check - Check For Viruses & Trojan Horses

Trend Micro HouseCall free on-line virus scan

Thanks for giving me some info but it seems this is a funny little problem. I do have Norton Anti-Virus running. It shows no problem. The internet options/advance choices did not help me. I can't fix the IE in add/remove because IE does not show up as a program that is installed. I try reinstalling IE but it does not allow me because it states I have the latest version. I quess when Browserwise loaded it deleted the autosearch option off IE and when I finally got rid of it it left me with no auto search option. I should let you know that I can browse the internet if I go thru favarites or if I write down the entire address on the address bar.(http:/ is what I need. Again thanks for trying.
