I need to write a script that will delete all messages older than 6 months for all users. Is this posible on Exchange 2010? Can anyone help?

Does retention policy still suffer the problem of only being able to tag on an ongoing basis?

i.e. You have decades worth of mail in mailbox, put a 6 month retention tag on, but day 1 only starts the first time the retention policy kicks off and tags all the existing mail.
Therefore it will be another 6 months before stuff gets removed?

I did use MRM in EX2007 but only for simple stuff like remove messages >14 days in deleted items.
Much as I love the newer versions I sometimes hanker after old EX2003 features like Mailbox Manager.

Thanks 58sniper (MIS). This helped me considerably. This is the information I've been looking for. However it does not appear that you can apply the retention policies to a message store. Only to mailboxes. Now I need to find a method to automatically add new users to the policy when they are created.
