Just a quickie, netbackup 6.52, how do you remove
clients after you remove the policy, they still show up under client properites, I thought the catalog auto cleaned up itself, or do you still have to remove the dir they are under /usr/openv/netbakcup/db/images/clientname

thanks

I have the problem that when I remove a client from an active policy, NetBackup still backs up the client!!!

a netbackup stop/start finishes off the removal and finally there are no more attempts to back up the client that I had removed.

Hi Bob:

Let me understand this, if I have several clients say
are just no longer in use, I delete the policies, and such,
I still need to stop the netbackup services and restart them to sort of have netbackup finish or clean it up?

thanks

I don't know about deleting the entire policy. I have not tried that. My problem is deleting a single client from a policy will not take effect until I stop/start Netbackup. The client does not show up in the policy or even the /usr/openv/netbackup/db/class/$POLICY/clients.

It must be stashed somewhere in a table register or a memory register that only gets cleared on a recycle of NetBackup.

I tried to run nbpemreq -updatepolicies but even that doesn't flush the client.

Well a full restart of it did not do it, guess
I am curious enough to ask veritas....

Please come back and update after talking with them

Well, Now I feel silly, since this was a request from another group who manages thier backups, and I thought they told me they deleted the policies but could not get the clients to clear from the cliet properities.
I wish I had doubled checked, earlier, but I just check and they actually just de-activated them,

So once I removed them from the policy, they are gone.
