Hi,

Some time ago, our domain was upgraded to Active Directory, Server 2000. It is currently running in mixed mode but we need to move to Native mode.

Therefore, I need to get rid of the old NT4.0 BDC which still shows on the domain. The server is now redundant and all data has been removed.

What is the most graceful way of removing this from the AD Domain?

Thanks.

Power it off. Wait a week to make sure nothing else breaks. Then delete the computer's account. NT BDCs are nothing special to remove. If you wanted to remove an AD DC, you would NOT use the same procedure.

Thought as much - thanks. Used Server Manager (NT4 box) to remove the account which was then deleted from AD - this is the primary way MS advise............eventually found an article on it. Their fiorst advice is to upgrade it to an AD DC - not always practical though!
