Hey guys,
I had Win98 SE on my computer, got a new computer with Windows 2000 Professional. I'm wondering is there a way to move the contents of Favorites from the 98 computer to the 2000. There were so many things there that I will hate to have to find again.

ALso,
There seems to be such a limited amount of screensavers in 2000. Are there others somewhere that I am missing?

Thanks in advance,

for your favorits, open the internet explorer and use the import/export function in the file menu to export your favorits from the old computer (save on a floppy or over a network) then import them on the new computer.

I'd assume that you are missing either screensavers that have been installed on win98 seperatly or that you are missing the themes

You can also use explorer to copy your favourites onto a floppy, or across the network. You'll find them in the \windows\favorites\ folder. Don't copy this actual folder, just copy everything inside it (including any subfolders); you should recognise your shortcuts when you see them on screen there.

After you've copied the shortcuts in the favorites folder to a floppy, you can also copy them from the floppy up to the new computer.

The folder you want to copy the shortcuts to is *usually* found at: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME\Favorites
Open that favorites folder and copy the shortcuts there from your floppy.

Hope that helps!

Just a quick heads up on the Windows 2000 machine... you won't see the Documents and Settings folder until you go and set your computer to "Show All Files" if it's not set up that way already.

To check:
Open Windows Explorer.
Tools->Folder Options
Change to the View tab.
Click "show all files".

Jess :)
