Remove carriage returns in v7!!

I do not have the remove function, is there an alternative way to remove carriage returns from text fields in v7?

pgtek, I am trying to replace the carriage returns chr(13) in a text field {problem.description} with a space (" ") which can normally be done using the replace function, but Crystal v7 does not have this available, so am seeking an alternative.

for eaxmple, instead of looking like this:

"this
is
some
text"

I want it to look like this:
"this is some text".
The recipient of the report is using excel but it cannot cope with carriage returns, apparently.

I found a link on the Crystal support site:

that says the extra functions for doing string replacements can be downloaded from them.

ps- I don't have ver 7 so I couldn't test this out.

unfortunately BO do not have the required functions available since taking on decisions' site - there must be another method? v7 is limited, no looping for a start, and outputing in csv or text file format ignores any formatting (like 'can grow') so still at square 1!!!

You might do this using a SQL Expression to do the Replace on the database side, which would be faster and not require a UFL.

If you need help with this, post the database being used.
