This is an open conversation about removing BT Branding from an IP Office.

We have been around several sites mopping up after BT have attempted to install an IP Office, and ultimately fail in giving the customer the experience with the IPO they deserve.

Some sites we have by accent managed to remove the BT Branding off the 14xx phones. Normally we default the switch and format the SD card and retype. A couple of sites, we cant remove the BT Branding off the phones no matter what we do, sort of swapping out the kit.

If any one has any insight into this and a procedure that works.

Is it not just a matter of removing the BT license?
What about downgrading the phones and upgrade them again to be sure it gets the right firmware?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I did an install that BT subbed out to us when they were too busy (they do have a joke of a template) I noticed they have a "branding licence" would just taking this out stop the Branding?

Tom - Yeah - Back already. Indeed, I couldn't sit back and be fed that CAC ;-)

Peter - No, removing the license and the phones still show the branding. might try the down / upgrade.

I think a new SD Card might sort it.... havent tried that yet.

You should be able to downgrade the phones without actually downgrade the IPO.
Add this in the NoUser sourcecode: 1400FW=04:1400R04.BIN
So if you need R06 then it should be: 1400FW=06:1400R06.BIN

It can be merge except when using a combocard.
Then the IPO needs a reboot.

Excellent, I will give it a bash.

A star for new NoUser sourcecodes.

Thanks but you should star Intrigrant and or Bas1234 who needed this in the field.
The 1403 needs to have 1403 instead of 1400!

What happens if you add a new phone? Does it brand?

I'd suspect that the branding won't be trivial to remove...

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

It's the license that does it. But once the kit has been started with the license there it's burnt in. I suspect it would need a control unit swap to get shut of it. I've asked a few people about this and can't ever get a full straight answer TBH.

We have stolen a couple of their botched jobs. One site paid BT out for 10 months of the 12 month contract to get rid of them. Thats how bad it was. I was on with an ISDN 30 "wire man" a couple of weeks ago who has been chucked on the implement course and sent out with kit. He's never touch and PBX before and just put ISDN 30 boxes in and proved pairs for 20 years. PBX's is not something he even wanted to do. And his laptop was so tied up he couldn't even run SSA!!

The standard default config they have created for the engineers is a joke!! Although, I can understand why they do this. They can litterally send monkeys out to fit them. They are trying to make the IP Office into an easy to install key system. they should have taken on Panasonic not IPO.

Note: If any BT installers are reading this. Sorry for the abiuse. Nothing personal
