As the subject line suggests, I'm trying to remove a blue search toolbar, that automatically installed itself on my IE browser. I have tried using programs suchs as PestPatrol and Ad-Aware, but none of these programs have been able to remove the toolbar. The frustrating thing is I use the Google toolbar which I really love. But this annoying blue serach toolbar replaces the Google toolbar, even after I remove the blue toolbar and manually replace it with Google. If I actually try using the blue search toolbar, it takes me to Lop.com, which I'm sure is the site that installed the damn thing on my computer in the first place. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to get rid of this menace?

Shykat,

I believe this was the same way I got the blue toolbar irritant. I also installed MSN Messenger Plus. I'm just glad I'm rid of it for once and for all. Thank you somuch Carr for all your help!

No problem.
I'm curious...have to ask...where did either of you get MSN Messenger Plus? Software or download? If download, what site?

It actually came with my SBC DSL installation disk. Weird, huh?

Very strange...
In another forum, users are apparently picking up an "idgsearch" browser hijack via Microsoft Media Player 9. just trying to make a connection...

I downloaded the MSN Messenger Plus from the MSN site and did the update from their site as well when I logged on a few days ago and was notified of a new update.

I now have SpyBot and used it after using AdAware and it did find about 14 things that AdAware missed. I also clicked on the Immunize feature.

I'm hoping that that will fix the problem with the irritating blue search bar.
