So as to make the problem absolutely clear I will try to include as much info as possible :)

I did have 1 main Domain Controller running:

Windows Advanced Server,
Exchange 2000,
Proxy 2.0,
Active Directory
DHCP
DNS
WINS
Dell 6400 PowerEdge Server
Xeon 750
1 Gb Memory

I am in the process of upgrading and introducing other servers with which to run various pieces of software, and to reduce the load.

So far I have created a member server on the network, called it EXCHANGE, and then installed Exchange 2000 onto this machine, along with Service Pack 3

Next I went back to my original Server and moved all the mailboxes across to the new Server. So far, so good. All tests we did ensured that we could still send and receive mail, both internally and externally.

I went bak to my original server, followed a couple of knowledge base articles on routing masters, and address books, then went for the big uninstall!

Here is where my problem lies. Everything went ok until and everything uninstalled except the following:

*****
Start
*****

Setup failed while Removing Active Directory objects for Chat Service (error 0x80005000: An invalid ADSI pathname was passed.) .

Additional information:
DN = /dc=com/dc=sheridans/cn=Configuration/cn=Services/cn=Microsoft Exchange/cn=Michael Sheridan and Company Ltd/cn=Administrative Groups/cn=/cn=Servers/cn=SERVER_001/cn=Protocols/cn=IRCX

An invalid ADSI pathname was passed.

ID no: 80005000
Microsoft Exchange Setup

Service = 'MSExchangeChat'

mode = 'Remove' (61954)

Setup encountered an error during Microsoft Exchange Chat Service of Remove component task.

Function:
CDirectoryManager::ScDeleteDSObject
CAtomChat::ScRemoveDSObjects
CBaseAtom::ScRemove
CBaseServiceAtom::ScRemove
CBaseAtom::ScSetup
CBaseComponent::ScSetup
CBaseComponent::ScSetup
CComExchSetupComponent::Install

Can anyone help me with this as it is really bugging me.

Also there still appears to be priv1, and pub1 files in the mdbdata folder. Can I delete these as I have moved the mailboxes and in effect created a new storage group?

Lastly, thanks for your patience, our London now cannot get their mail through OWA. I am running a netscreen firewall, and exhweb is running on the new servers IIS. Any help??

Thanks

Dom

I have been searching the net and can find some instance relating to SMTP with the same error code.

I have also found the KB article outlining a manual removel (registry edits etc). Is it worth doing it this way? How would this affect AD, as I know exchange and AD are closely related?

Cheers
