Hi All.

Little question here.

I have a customer who wants to remotely access their voicemail. They have an IP Office (IP Office mode), and in the documentation I was looking at it said that you need to press 8 when the greeting is playing.

I made sure that the user is set up for remote access (have a voicemail password). It has been initialized.

I call in, get transferred to the extension. It rings 3 times, get my greeting, press 8 while the greeting is playing, and it continues playing. When the greeting is finished, I press 8 and it says "Message too short. Deleted. Goodbye."

Any ideas?

Regards

You might try *7.

Why not enter an incomming route to destination VoiceMail ?

Hi all.

Answering questions in no specific order.

a) the incoming call route suggestion - customer didn't want to tie up one of their lines for this.
b) will try *7 and advise.

I did however tell them to do something like this:

Since they have a short code for anonymous voicemail (<short code> feature voicemail collect TN: "?")
Person calls in, gets reception, she transfers to the short code. Says it works fine for them.

I have set up the auto attendant to allow dialling the short code as well.

Regards

Don't want to tie up a line, what do you think you are doing by calling your mailbox and transferring out of, do as suggested. Build an incoming call route pointing to voicemail

Hi All

ndoubrava: I am running 9.1.11.xxx
joe2938: What I am trying to do, based on the knowledgebase, is call in to a receptionist, the receptionist transfers to "my" extension. When my greeting starts, you should be able to dial 8, and get "Please enter your password.." to access the voicemails for the user.

Note: I tried *7 and 8 when the voicemail picks up, and I can't break out to the point where you can enter your password.

Regards

yes I understand but are you not tying up a line calling your receptionist and then being transfered to your mailbox and then trying to transfer out. Much easier to just build an incoming call route that goes to the voicemail system

If it is embedded it is **7, I guess you never mentioned what VM you're using.

Create a shortcode lik *99/?"Anonymous"/Voicemail Collect

Set the system greeting breakout 0, 2 or 3 to *99

intrigrant that's a great work around.
Is this embedded or vm pro running in ip office mode ?

After re-reading the thread I think the problem may be it is embedded using IP Office mode. It doesn't look like it supports re-login like intuity mode (we never use IP Office mode due to it's limitations)

We never use Intuity due to its silly and endless prompts telling what to do. We are no fools from across the ocean.....

Yeah, I HATE intuity...

I only use it when I have to (outcalling)

These dang Yankees need to be lead by the hand, and like voice prompts, so it's like every cell phone they will ever use. And it makes it a little easier for our help desk people since most Avaya VM is based on Intuity. *7 works for remote login for Partners, Ledgends, Magix, IP Office VM Pro, Embedded is the odd man out. Thankfully there is visual voice... [rednose]

Intuity is available for embedded voicemail also.

Still the odd man out with the **7 re-login for Intuity mode, and no remote login for IP office mode.

I have used both and Intuity is far superior to IP Office mode, That's why Audix, cmm messaging and Avaya Aura Messaging are all based on it!!!!

try setting the announcements on a group in VM Pro using Intuity then :)

also Intuity mode may be superior (in that it can do more) but it is also far more complicated for the user.
if they don't need Intuity only features & have not come from an Intuity background then IP Office mode is often the more sensible choice.

Again it is back to choosing the correct tool for the correct job.
