hi,

Have being trying without success to get a sco box to print to a xerox printer on our network. Can ping printer etc from sco but cant get it to print. Was wondering a)is it possible to print to xerox box(xerox make no mention of sco in documentation) and b)if possible how to best go about it.

Have other unix versions printing fine but just sco giving grief.

Thanks,

Jonah

how about a few clues regarding the xerox printer and unix version. Xerox tends to like to print using port 9100 so I'd start there.

Try using LPD using /etc/printcap....you'll want to set [rp=lp]. Xerox sees port as [lp]. You'll at least get something printing...not sure of output though. Xerox seems to prefer Solaris, which has a print utility available.

Also...you might try [netcat] instead of standard [LPD]. Do a search on [netcat] which is share-ware.

I have tried using hpnpf, setting up as a Jet3 with port at [9100] and also [lp]....no luck. Stick with LPD or netcat.
