Hello,

A remote user connects to our network via VPN. We have Exchange Server 2K3, XPproSP2, Domain username/pwd.

If this user is logging in for the first time, how will he/she authenticate username/pwd?

I know that one option is to log on via dial-in (VPN). This is the check box that is on the bottom of the log on window. However our VPN software isn't listed in the drop down list when prompted to choose what to dial in with. Is there a way to make the software show up here?

Any ideas appreciated.

In the VPN users group create the user and then when they logon they should be all set. Are you using microsoft for the VPN client to connect of 3rd party software. Microsoft finally got something right with their wizards with the VPN connection wizard. If you are going to have multiple VPN users in the future you may want to invest in ISA and have your users connect with the microsoft VPN wizard. I hope this helps you some.

I'm using Cisco's VPN client. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by creating a user in the VPN users group. I assume you're talking about categories like "guest" or "Power Users" etc. Or am I on the wrong track..

Thanks for the quick reply!

I could just ask or reset the user's password so that I can log in while the laptop is here so that the profile is created and pwd is cached...
