Hey Guys,

I want to set up users to get a e-mail notication when they get a new voicemail message. How is this setup in Call Pilot 4.

Thanks,

Frank

This will get more attention in the Callpilot messaging solutions Forum.

However, all you need to do is modify the Mailbox class or create a new mailbox class that allows remote notification.

ok, I now have it enabled on the server and have it pointing to my SMTP server. But I'm still getting nothing. Is there any others settings on the server I have to enable ?

thanks,

What exactly do you want to accomplish?

Notification only of new VM?

or

Delivery of actual VM message to Email Client?

Just the notification saying that you have an VM, I don't want the actuall VM in the inbox.

Easiest method is have it CP call your cell phone.

Edit the user's VM box and turn remote notification on. Callpilot will call you when you have a new message. Make sure and put the phone number in as you would dial an outside number ie. 9 123-4567

That I have working, but I want this to go to e-mail instead. Any thoughts ????

Only way I know of doing that, is to install the MyCallPilot application on a server and desktop Msging on the client and configure the message forwarding rule.

That will deliver the actual VM message to the users inbox.

I don't know of a email notification option other than that.

AOSupport,

This is pretty easy to set up.

You will need to create a new Notification Device Class. I call mine 'Email', nothing fancy.

Under Message Delivery Configuration in the SMTP/VPIM section, check the 'Outgoing SMTP/VPIM' box (you can also check the 'Incoming SMTP/VPIM' box if it makes you happy), fill in your e-mail server in the 'Outgoing SMTP Mail/Proxy Server field'. Then click the 'Security Modes for SMTP Sessions' link, and check 'Unauthenticated' under Authentication Options (assuming your e-mail server will allow this type of session.)

Now in the Mailbox class you must enable 'Remote Text Notification Capability' in the 'Outcalling (Delivery to Telephone or Delivery to Fax)' area.

Lastly, you must enable and configure Remote Text Notification for each mailbox. In the mailbox, scroll down to the 'Remote Text Notification' area, and fill out this section.

Our users love this feature. You can also manipulate the caller ID settings, so that if you have a BlackBerry, the caller id is in dialable format, so a BB user can call back by simply clicking on the phone number of the caller.

ok guys, I must be special becuase nothing ever works for me. I did just as you stated and its still not working.

Do you need the External E-mail Servers setup ?

Also, is there a way on the server to see whats going wrong.

Thanks,

Frank

External E-mail Server does not need to be set-up.

Make sure SMTP is running on the callpilot server. Open a command window on your PC, and then type 'Telnet <Your CallPilot Server IP> 25' then hit return.

You should get a message like:

220, I, <Callpilot server name>, speak ESMTP. Talk to me.

If you don't get a response on your CallPilot server port 25, then on the server check to make sure that the following services are running:

CallPilot IMA Service
CallPilot IMAP Service
CallPilot LDAP Service
CallPilot MTA Service

If these services are running, then ask your Network guys if they require authentication for SMTP sessions. Try to get some detail from them on what you need to establish a SMTP session with your server, then modify the settings in the Callpilot Manager accordingly.

You can also try to telnet to port 25 of your mail server. You should get a response similar to the CallPilot response above.

ok, when I try to telnet on port 25 from the call pilot server I get this

421 I am busy. Try again later.....

All of these services are running

CallPilot IMA Service
CallPilot IMAP Service
CallPilot LDAP Service
CallPilot MTA Service

Lastley I am the network guy and I also verified with my systems team. There is no authenication for the SMTP server.

Also, I tried a telnet on port 25 to my smtp server from the call pilot server, thats ok.

Ok.

Look at the Alarm Monitor, and Event Logs, and see if there are any errors/alarms related to SMTP delivery.

ok, this what I see in the event log in this exact order.

Event from IMA TCP Listen[IMA TCP Listen] : Digital Networking (Incoming) has been disabled.

Event from IMA Send[IMA Send Thread] : Connection error. Additional information (MIME filename, site name) : No route to the remote host found, host=(my domain)

Event from IMA Send[IMA Send Thread] : Unable to connect to the remote site: Failed to establish connection, next attempt=4.1, host=10.120.152.30. (SMTP Server)

Sounds like you have a network issue either you network is blocking it or your network settings on the CallPilot server are incorrect.

Here's the funny part, I was playing with this last night. And it seems the notification are getting stuck on the D:\Nortel\smtp\outgoing folder.

When I reboot the server, I get all the notification. But then I attemp to do a new one and its the same thing.
