We are a non for profit and have a relationship with another site that we supply Network through a point to point connection. THey have there own g250 and want to upgrade. I think they are running 6.0 currently. I am wondering what they should upgrade to hardware wise (or vm wise)or i f we should incorporate that site into our PBX environment, we have 14 gateways with 2 remote sites and one port network. We fund them anyway.
Just not sure which way to go or even if they want us to manage the phones.
 
That answer will depend greatly on you and your organization. Do you want to maintain some "distance" with this other site/organization or are you comfortable with bringing them into your PBX?

Will they require some Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery - in other words, if the network connection drops, do they need a local processor and equipment or can they just be completely virtual - just phones without a local gateway and trunks? Is there enough bandwidth back to your equipment to provide everything? Could be SIP or H.323, depending on your system.

So, if they need to keep a local processor and trunks so they can be a standalone PBX then the G430 is probably the smallest Avaya Media-Gateway. You could set them up just like another remote site with LSP, if necessary.

That's just some suggestions to start the conversation. I'm not in sales or even up to speed on all the latest and greatest from Avaya so there's probably even better options.
