Hello,

I need to shutdown or reboot cisco router 2600/above
series over internet.

Thanks...

Be sure that you <wri mem> or you could get locked out by the startup config. If you don't <wri mem>, <sho start> and be certain that you will still be able to access the router when it has rebooted. This verified, issue the <reload> command.

u can use the "ip http server" command no quotes on the routers u want to access. just enable it with the command above and type the ip address of the router in a browser. a password box will come up. just type in enable password no login name. i think it will let u shut it down and reload. its worth a try.

Your best and most secure way is to buy hardware device. I have seen them for as little as $100 via web and 50 if you just want to call a phone line for a remote power.

After all what do you do if your router hangs and you can't reload????
