I'm not very experianced with routers, and need some help in checking out some network connections. I need to log in to our local router (call it Router A), and initiate a ping and trace route from Router B to Router C, both of which are across the WAN, as if I were at B. Do I need to somehow get to the prompt at B? I need the results to show up where I am as well.

Try this'
Personall I prefer tera term it's frreee has ssh and works great.
So login to router a from user (mode thats the one with > or # but not config#) type telnet <ip.add.re.ss> yes please insert a valid ip address.
ping trace route what ever in tera term highlight the results click edit open notepad click past and take the results with you. When done type exit to close to move back to the original router give it the 3 finger salute <ctrl> <shft> <6> all at once relese now quick hit the <x>. To reconnect type sh sessions that will display your open sessions type<1> to go to session one and so on.

Thanks. If I understand it correctly, the point I was missing was the telnet to Router B. I guess once there it's just like working local.
