Mitel 3300 MXe version 13.x.x.x remote system restore. After loading it requires manual reboot. I have never done so remotely. Reset system, reset call server or reboot apc... Which is suggested?

Have to do this about 02 or 0300... In a few hours. 😊

Thanks in advance.

As long as it's not an MXE server RESET SYSTEM is the correct command here.

The freedom to make your own mistakes is all you ever need to succeed.

It is an MXe and I sent the RESTART CALLSERVER command...we'll see in a few minutes.

I have not done the system restore yet. I wanted to see if RESTART CALLSERVER would give me a simple system restart to see if it would solve my problem, it did not. I will be doing a system restore.

Would it be easier to telnet into it and send the reboot command? As I said before, I have never done this remotely, I have always been on site on all of these jobs. I just didn't feel like traveling an hour at 0300 this morning.

RESET SYSTEM will be fine to restart the controller.

You could also check the help files for PROGRAMMED REBOOT
This will allow you to restart the system based on a day/time.

I get the programmed reboot info, I thought about setting one up. Basically, everytime I have done a system restore, I have always been in front of the machine to monitor everything. This time I wanted to do the restore from my desk at another location instead of driving down there and waiting around since I do not have access to the server room until later in the morning.

Typically, I do a SHUTDOWN command, wait a couple minutes for it to shut down, turn off the system, give it about a minute and turn it back on and let/watch everything load.

I was just wondering what command would do the same thing without me sitting there and have a successful restore. I noticed RESET APC is one that boots the card, don't know if that is necessary for the MXe controller.

Just out of my comfort zone I guess. This would be the first time doing it since I started with this stuff about 3 years ago. :)

RESET SYSTEM will be the command you want.
This will gracefully reboot the system.

RESET APC won't help you, this is for an Application Processor Card which is basically an embedded PC for the controller that has MSL (Mitel Standard Linux) installed.

Thanks sarond and warlockcode. They came in too late to perform a RESET SYSTEM, not an oppurtune time actually.

This is for someone who is new to this or may be tired at 0300 and has yet to sleep since the previous day. :)

You can take the backup file of when you want to restore it back to, upload it and wait for the restore to "complete" your system will still be up. It will tell you that it needs a manual reboot in a popup window. Just OK it. The system will not go down during this phase until you manually reboot or, in my case, schedule a reboot at 0215 (default).

This fixed my problem for the time being. I am not suggesting this if something major is wrong with your system. My problem is that someone did not save the Auto Attendant .wav file, damned if I could find it anywhere. Somehow it got erased, so the only way to get it back was to restore. When I performed this half of the restore process, the Auto Attendant loaded back, so this should get them through the day until it slows down again in the wee hours of tomorrow morning.

As was stated by Sarond and Warlockcode, RESET SYSTEM is the command. I was confused on 2 different things, long day didn't help, that's my excuse anyway. :)

Thanks!!

You can also type reboot via the console either via telnet port 2002 or direct via serial cable.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

You could also extract the wav file from the backup and ftp it to the correct directory

Is the AA main greeting programmed as the system greeting or a mailbox greeting? As jpruder mentioned, you can FTP into the 3300 and pull the file, then use Audacity to change the format and save a backup copy of it. You have to FTP into the /vmail partition, if it's the main system greeting it will be in /vmail/temp/db/backup/vmail, the filename will vary a bit but it will have "day" in it and be a .vox file. Individual mailbox greeting and names will be in the .tar files in this same folder. Once you've done an FTP download to a PC, you can import them as raw data into Audacity, change the import settings to import the file as "U-Law", change the "Channels" setting to mono, and change the sample rate to 8000. Then you can export it from Audacity into whatever format you need.

Thanks Lundah, read your post, never thought of that. Going to go pull it now while I wait for this other system to come up.
