Can it be done? After talking to Veritas they said it's not recommended. However, it needs to be done. We are taking a servers system state that we backed up successfully and redirecting it to a different server remotely to restore. It fails with "unable to attach to \\servername\System?State" No other error message. We have tryed restoring while booting the server we are restoring to in a temp OS and also in the operating OS. Niether works, we get the same error message. We would like to know how it can be done. Thanks,
Wendi

I have done that about three or four times and there are many articles relating to "unable to attach" but none of them associate with doing a redirected remote restore. None of the related articles helped in any way. Thanks,
Wendi

Do you have network connectivity? Can you browse \\<computername>\admin$ ?
Look at Veritas technote 237693

Rather than using Backup Exec to solve this problem, have you tried using NTBackup to backup the files to a directory on the remote server, then restoring them. Again using NTBackup.
