Hi,
Just wondering if anybody might know why ODBC on an XP desktop fails while Win2K or Win2003 are fine?
This something I discovered while testing upgrades/installs.
Sometime I used old desktops because I don't have a spare servers.
1 - OpenEdge 10.1B and ODBC driver installed on an XP system
2 - Logged on locally, I can connect with ODBC no problem.
3 - When logged on to a different system, if I try to connect to that XP ODBC always fails.
Error message:
[DataDirect}]{ODBC Progress OpenEdge Wire Protocol driver]Connection refused. Verify Host Name and Port Number.[DataDirect][ODBC Progress OpenEdge Wire Protocol driver]Socket closed.[ODBC Progress OpenEdge Wire Protocol driver]Unexpected Network Error. ErrNum = 3
I know everything is set up correctly on the XP and the remote system I'm trying to connect from.
The same setup works fine if my test system is Win2K or Win2003 instead of XP.
So in the future I will always find a server if I need to do some testing.
But... now I'm really curious why.
Thanks
Bruce O
