Do you have to set up at least 1 trunk in a Line Pool to do remote notification to a pager? My system is set up as a squared arrangement and currently I don't any line pools.
Walt,
You can set it up for using a specific line, pool, or routing code (if you are using the routing table). You will have to play around with pauses and such to get the right timing for sending the pager info. A butt set is invaluable in this process. I always select a line first (so I know which line the mail is going to use to dial out), connect a butt set to that line, leave a message in said mailbox, then listen (via butt set)to the transaction with the pager in front of me to verify it works several times in a row (this makes sure you have the right digit string and the proper amount of pauses). Then, I go and change the outdial to pool or route or whatever and test once more.
I usually just pick a line (I like line 1. Employees will recognize that number on caller ID) and leave the pool alone.
The vm will wait until that line is idle before dialing out, and it makes any future troubleshooting easier.
Customers may have later numbers in their hunt group disconnected (which would screw up your pool), but line 1 will be live as long as they're in business.
Can I set this up with the lines in a squared arrangement or do I need to move 1 to a line pool? I would like some directions on what steps I need to take to set this up.
