Hello,

can anybody tell me how I configure a modem on AUX-Port for managing my CISCO Router remotely?

My problem is:
25 miles away is a part of our company. If I make some mistakes (what happens :(( ) I always take my car and drive to it. Now I have a modem. Can I use this to manage my router if nothing works over the network?

Thanks for all your help.

Marty

It's pretty simple - here's what we use:

line aux 0
modem InOut
modem autoconfigure discovery
transport input all
speed 115200

Other than that, you'll just need a straight-through cable and a DB25 connector.

Thanks so far. I will try it tomorrow.

Thanks for your fast answer.

Also add password protection to your aux port config (to thwart war dialers and the like)

!
login
password xxxxxxx
!
