Remote Mailbox Access - ** Exits mailbox

Hi All

When I try to access a mailbox externally, I dial the direct number, wait till it starts to play the voicemail greeting message then press **

However as soon as I press * I get the message "Exiting the system goodbye!"

What am I missing here! I have taken over this phone system and we have only used voicemail internally in the past which works fine.

If I check the voicemail in System Settings it says version 10.01.00.22-2 and the main system version is 1.00.2.04.j.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, I tried calling the number which has our auto attendant on and it works from there! So we can use that number instead!
 
I am trying to access my voicemail by using my mobile phone as if I am out of the office and dialing into the system.

Roger that, I read wrong,

However it seems to matter which line you call? it's not a line setting but rather system setting.

Maybe cell phone picky with the lines it calls in on.

the system versions are unfamiliar to me, i deal in names of product, your trouble sounds as if it is a call pilot 100 or 150 using 1.0-2.1 software, 3.1 and 3.0 upgrade solves this 99-100% of the time.
The issue with mobile phones surfaced some time ago, the fix is only as perfect as cell service

I've recently had the same voicemail message on a BCM 400 system. The problem was because I had done a restore of the customers database onto another BCM system with a different site ID and that the second system was only keycoded for 16 mailbox's, whereas the first one had 64 mailbox's.

I had to delete 48 mailbox's before the voicemail would work again.

Thanks for all your help, I will do some more testing. I can access the mailbox through the line that has the AA on it so its a workaround for now.

That is the normal method so you know.

I gather you do mean a private line and when listening to a personal greeting.

Did you check if Return To AA: = Y ?

I didn't catch that post until you pointed it out. Retunr to AA is a global setting.

Being a call pilot it might be a deny DN dial issue in the table that is used for the back door.

Hi all

AA wasn’t ticked, so I have done it now.

I cannot dial direct into my voicemail externally but can get in via the AA.

I think I have reached my limit for administering this system! I can do the basics OK (HA!) but this AA/Voicemail is getting a bit tricky and I dont want to kill the system.

I am going to call in an expert to help program and do some training.

No doubt I will be back at some point and thanks for your input.
