Hi Guys:
I need your help once again! I'm home sick and they have me doing all this remote work. Usually I'm on Nortels and Magix. Today - it's IP office. The customer has a DID dial in for their system, but I've never connected this way, I've always used a VPN or have been there locally. What do I use and how do I connected using a DID? I can't find any way in Manager to let me dial directly to another system.

Thanks
Carolyn

i asume the DID is a PRI or a BRI
if yes then you need a S0 (isdn) connection at your home
then you need more info to connect to that ip office
you need to know the user that is made for dail in
you need to know the ipadress that is in the iproute for dail in
if you have this all you have to make a connection for this remote ip office
fill in the DID with the user made for dail in (default is Remotemanager with thepword as password)
in the tab network you have to give in the ipadress (dail in) in the range of the adres (default 192.168.99.0)
so this can be 192.168.99.1 till 192.168.99.254
then you can make a dail up connection
when this is done then you have to open manager
when open change preferences into the ipadress of the ip office
it looks difficultbut it isn't

What happened to the days when you can open procomm, dial a number, enter a password and you're in! lol The dial in number is not a PRI or BRI it's just a POTS line.

What type system? What type lines?

If analogue lines then the system needs a Modem2 or Modem12 card in it. If ISDN lines then you don't need a modem in the system but you need ISDN at home. If you have analogue lines at any stage then you need the modem in the system.

An Incoming Call Route is required in the system pointing to DialIn. You also need an IP route in the system pointing to the RemoteManager user. These are default but I can't tell you if they've been changed.

I'll assume you have ISDN at home and the customer. Create a dialup connection with the DDI/DID number. Allocate a static IP address to this connection of something in the range of the system so that when you connect you are on the same network. Once connected, try pinging the system. If it works, then open Manager and you should be able to connect. Make sure you can ping first as if this isn't working then there's no point in opening Manager, it's a routing issue then.

They are using an IP Office - what release I don't know, its not on the ticket. I am not connecting with an ISDN Just a POTS to POTS and modems.

Avaya happened! Nothing's simple. lol

If the system is a Small Office then it has a modem built in. If not, then you need to know if the system even has a modem in it.

There is a modem.. it's working fine.. When I dial, It picks up. What my problem is, is what software do I use to dial into it? I've always connected to other systems with a VPN... Do I use Manager somehow? Procomm?

Create a standard dialup connection in Windows. Just like you would to the Internet. Follow my previous post and it'll work.
