Sep 30, 2008 Thread starter #3 hulk68 IS-IT--Management Apr 12, 2007 67 US i agree, but how do i know which COM port? I tried 1-9 but none of them work. my modem does work, i use it for other tasks. in those other tasks, it simply comes up as "controllerless modem", not as a COM port. Upvote 0 Downvote

Sep 30, 2008 Thread starter #4 hulk68 IS-IT--Management Apr 12, 2007 67 US problem solved. about 3 layers deep in the advanced properties of the modem, in device manager, i found where i could change the COM port for the modem. it was set at 13(not an option in ASA). i switched it to an open COM port and ASA works fine now. thanks dontdeletemeagain for the help.
