I have 32 win2k pro computers. I want to run setup of Visual Studio at every machine while sitting on one system.

Thanks in advance

You could also try creating an administrative share of the Visual Studio Installation.. I'm unsure how to do this for Visual Studio but for the office suite etc your simply run "setup /a" followed by a path to a network share where the administrative version will be located..

Then using the "soon" command on the Win2k resource kit, (you can get the files from

Schedule "\\server\share\setup /qb-" on all the machines you want to run the installation

This is only a quick pointer to how it could be achived, there will probably be more switches needed for the setup command on each workstation, and there could be some permissions issues regarding the software installation.

But as pointed out allready there are some better products out there for remote software installation, such as SMS, Altiris Express 5 (now Deployment Server 5.1).

N.B.
If your using all WIN2k desktops, You could also consider Publishing the applications using the Active Direcory, if you are using it.
