I'm trying to do a remote install of the Linux client from the Brightstor for Windows 11.5 CD.

When it asks for the logon information of the remote computer, I enter the root user equivalent username and password. I then get an error message stating: " User must have Administrator privileges in order to continue. Please try again!"

The user does have admin priveleges on the Linux box. What/where is Brighstor looking for Admin privileges to be set? On specifice files/directories on the Linux box? Inside Brightstor somewhere? ??

Can I do a remote install this way? If not, what do I need to install for the agent and where do I get the files? I don't see any file/folder on the CD that looks like a linux file.

TIA

Roger

Never been able to install the Linux agents from a Windows box as far as I remember. There is usually a link to a readme file on the CD with instructions on how to install them, but certainly no remote capability from a Windows box that I ever recall.

Thanks vschumpy - in the end I gave up and installed the agent directly on the linux (ubuntu) box. It seems to be working fine, except for alot of files it can't access because they're in use at the time.
