Dear all,

we want to have a remote EPN (G650 Media gateway) connected to main Multi Connect Avaya CM system thru DS1 Converter (E1 leased circuit). The remote Media Gateway will be based around 3000 miles from the parent system. We are planning to have a end to end E1 leased circuit for the same.

Is above possible? Will REmote media gateway work satisfactorily over 3000 miles on a leased circuit?

pls advise

It will work perfectly through a leased circuit of any distance. The problem is that a 3000 miles leased circuit would be CRAZY expensive and any blip will take down the whole cabinet. We never implement DS1C cabinets with less than 2 circuits for that very reason but now you are talking CRAZY x2 expensive. You would probably be better served by a different solution like a remote IP gateway or even a networked s8300. ROI wouldn't be long vs the leased line scenario even assuming your EPN was free.

Many thanks for the reply, actually for us the quality of service is very imp, & you know that when u talk about quality then voip is not that reliable..also leased lines for IP & E1 are of same cost.

but good to know that with leased line the distance is not the limitation. We can go upto 3000 miles..

Can you forward any Avaya document in this regard which tells about connecting remote EPN over such wide distance..

Thanks again

Leased lines are independant of distance by definition. I still think you would be better served by a private IP connection. VOIP via the internet is unreliable but VOIP via a managed service with QOS will sound great on 1/4th the BW with more redundency options. What are you paying for a E1 leased line at 3000 miles?

Without more detail on your application, it's impossible to give other options but I can't think of a situation where a remote EPN would be a viable solution at that distance due to the price of the line.
