At a remote site, the previous admin has set up a NT4 server
WHen I look in 'my computer', two of the drives are 'Remote Disk'

The two disks contain the files & directories of another server (C$ and D$)

when I do a "net use", the driveletters do not show up as being a regular share.
Also, the icon of the remote disk is a 'local disc'-icon instead of a "mapped network drive"-icon

How did he set up this ?

Thanks

Try and see if they were using a logon script program, or some sort of a third party utility... It sounds as if this was not done using regular NT resources. Kixtart and other logon script programs can do these types of things.... let me know what you find.

Good Luck,

Hi Steeldragon,

It has been installed on a NT server, and the user (administrator) is not using a logon script...
Anyway : can kix do something like this ? (and make it permanent) Peter Van Eeckhoutte

I am having the same problem, however, I know what is causing these drives to show up as remote. I just don't know how to get around not having them show up as remote. We use two different remote scheduling products here. One is CA's Cross Platform Scheduling and the other is REXEC by Ataman Software. Whenever we remotely execute a job that has a net use in it, it creates a mapped drive that shows up as a "Remote Disk". The way I get rid of the "remote disk" is by rebooting the NT server or I am going to try to stop and start the workstation service.

Good Luck
